Coming from a proffessional ballet background, I was introduced to Pilates through my dance training. I joined the CAPAB ballet company in 1995. For many years after my proffessional dance career ended, I did personal training and aerobics which I studied through ETA. I did my Pilates training through Reneé Watson on mat and equipment in 2003 and started working full-time as a Pilates instructor as well as lecturing on courses. In 2009 I moved to Pretoria and opened my own studio. I have always loved Cape Town and always wanted to come home! After being away for 15years, I decided to come home with my 2 daughters! Pilates and dance conditioning is my passion, but I enjoy working with people in general and doing what I love every day!

The first 35 years of my life were dedicated to dance and hanging up my pointe shoes came with much sadness and soul searching.
Looking to fill a creative gap, I studied landscaping and went on to create gardens. When I stumbled upon yoga at gym, I began a beautiful journey that continues to challenge and delight me. Yoga connects me to my truth.
I hope to share the extraordinary magic of breath, movement and music in my classes.
I have completed my 200hr and 300hr Vinyasa teacher training and have recently studied Yin Yoga at the Source.

My first yoga class more than 30 years ago had me feeling all my own frustration and impatience! ...

Maxcine Francke
Hi, I’m Maxcine. I’m 21 years old and I’m a kickboxer. I’ve always pushed myself physically, but I recently felt drawn to something deeper—something that could bring me balance, strength, and peace. That search led me to The Source.
Yoga and Pilates feel like the missing pieces in my journey, not just to improve my kickboxing but to help me become a calmer, more centered person. I want to move with purpose, breathe with intention, and strengthen my core—both physically and mentally.
Starting at the front desk is just the beginning, but I can’t wait to see where this path takes me.

Through my practice I have come to recognise the teacher and the pupil within us all. I find myself in a constant state of learning… learning to honour my path, in turn creating more space for love, acceptance, and awareness. Life is a creative act and yoga has allowed me to fulfill this notion. As my practice deepens, so does my relationship to self and the souls around me. I find myself living with an open heart and mind, feeling all the more grounded as I navigate my time on earth. I can only hope to show others the same sense of belonging and being, which I have had the freedom of experiencing through the practice of yoga.

My yoga journey has been a transformational one, a journey back to myself. Initially completing my 200 hour YTT at the source in 2021, I began to tap into movement and breath as a healing modality. I aim to teach from a genuine place of understanding and hold the space for others through mindful movement.
Levson
Levson is or skilled handyman and gardener. You’ll see him at the studio every Thursday when he sorts out anything and everything! Levson has been with us for the past 8 years and is also part of our Source

Having been re-homed last year, I’m the newest member of The Source family. I’ve settled into this space beautifully and you will often find me napping in the studio or soaking up sun on the steps.

I began my Pilates journey as a client. After completing my BSc in medical physiology and my Dance Teachers training certifications I began to see the overwhelming benefits of pilates in all areas of movement, health and wellness.
Since completing my Mat certification with The Source in 2017 I have taught in various dance, pilates and fitness studios across Cape Town and am currently completing my Pilates Equipment Certification. I enjoy learning and integrating new and different techniques to maintain healthy body movement. I am fascinated with the human body in motion, and endeavour to create a space where people from all walks of life can build a deeper understanding and respect for their own body’s.
Montana Davies-Phippen
Montana (or Monty!) started practicing yoga in London many years ago. She eventually went from enjoying a Sunday evening class to following her teacher to India, where she realised the practice extended far beyond the physical and delved into the Bhakti practices of loving devotion. She since spent 2024 traveling Asia, from meditating with monks to exploring Taoist temples, culminating her learning with a yoga teacher training in Bali.
Montana is fascinated by how traditional yoga can help us in our modern lives. A keen student of yogic philosophy, she gives her infinite gratitude to our teachers. Also a believer in blending the approaches of the East and the West, she builds a holistic practice that calms both body and mind. If she’s not on the mat, Monty is most likely to be found at Muizenberg, where she continues her lifelong pursuit of learning to surf.

Movement in some form or another has been a part of my life since I was a toddler. The Pilates method resonated with me as a dancer and I have been involved in the dance and and fitness industry, including personal training, for over 30 years. My teaching brings a variety of training methods into my classes and private sessions, where clients can expect to build a stronger, leaner and more flexible body. I love sharing the practice of Pilates with people from all walks of life.
